as a new administrration moves into the inner loop, it seems like a good time to consider the appointment of a cabinet level culture czar. the idea has been around for time out of mind and other countries have done this. what's your opinion?

an arts czar would function alongside those officiates and ask: how can we move the arts fwd in this country?
consider what the NEA does. Are our kids learning enough music and seeing enough art in the classroom or shall just rely on mass media to expose them to the great art of our short history as a nation ?

The idea of a Cabinet-level official for the arts has gotten some lip service over the years. Many nations have 'culture' ministers. High-profile artists such as Quincy Jones think it's necessary in the U.S., but not everyone agrees, as there are many definitions of 'culture'. How do you define culture ? What's your opinion ?
